I just received my new watch and absolutely love it. It’s exactly what I wanted and is exceptionally comfortable with the rubber strap. As I mentioned previously, I have been an avid watch collector for over 30 years and at one time had over 25 watches in my collection including: Rolex, Breitling, Panerai, Audemars Piguet, Patek Phillipe and Breguet. I have sold all of them except my four UTS’s and a dress Patek Phillipe. There is no need to own any other watch and if I add any others to my collection, they will be UTS’s. Thanks for exceptional watches and phenomenal customer service, I will be a customer for life.
Thanks again!
Brian
I have been collecting watches for well over 20 years and through this I have learned never to buy a watch sight unseen.Sometimes a watch can speak to you in a picture however when you see it on your wrist it doesn’t live up to what you expected. As such I make it a rule never to buy unless I see it on my wrist. The 1000m V2 was the only exception I have ever made to this rule and all I can say is WOWThis watch does not disappoint in any way. It has elegant presence that will fit in with a suit, jeans or on the beach. The really cool thing is I am absolutely sure I will never run into anyone else with one, and given the story behind the manufacturing of the piece, this watch and any from UTS becomes amazing,y uniqueThis watch truly lives up to and exceeds every positive review I have read, and the advice, help and customer service provided by Stephen is truly world class We spoke for the first time last Tuesday again on Wednesday I ordered the watch on Friday afternoon and had it in Canada on Monday morning I opened the watch at the Fedex depot and instantly had 4 guys around it taking pictures. If you’re debating getting this watch don’t. It’s not even a leap of faith. Get it you won’t be disappointed
So exited to receive my 1000m V2 today. It is everything that they said it was and more. Just beautiful and looks even better than the photos! And as for the customer service — quite simply amazing! Stephen is so responsive to questions and great to work with.
I am based in Vancouver, BC. I ordered the watch on Wed evening, and it was here Friday lunchtime! Amazing.
I would thoroughly recommend UTS to anyone looking for a quality unique watch
Thank you Stephen, and of course Herr Spinner
I would like to preface my comments about my watch with a few words about Stephen. He is a consummate professional, attentive to the needs of the customer, and helped me put a UTS 1000M V2 on my wrist in two days! He steered me in the right direction concerning my budget and what I wanted out of a good diving watch.
The watch I chose was the UTS 1000M V2. The pictures are well done on this site but they cannot prepare you for seeing the watch in your hands.
The design, craftsmanship, precision and comfort of this watch speaks volumes about Herr. Spinner and his work.
The black Italian rubber strap, which I chose, is well made and very comfortable to wear.
I like the clean look of this watch, the subtle idea of form and function.
After checking other watches and their prices UTS watches stood out for their dedication to excellence and a very reasonable price point!
If you are in the market for a watch that is unique, made to the highest standards, and you want first class customer service – take the time and contact Stephen – have him put a UTS watch on your wrist.
First, I would like to say Thank you to Stephen, for the pleasant experience I have had with him of purchasing my new watch. From the first initial contact via email and than over the phone, Stephen answered all of my questions and with his professional and sincere approach, he helped me to decide on the UTS 1000M V2 with black dial. Initially I was going to purchase the Adventure automatic, but something was telling me to go for the 1000M V2 and I am glad I did. What a watch!
I am by no means a watch enthusiast nor I know much about watches, but I just wanted to treat myself for the first time in my life to a really nice and unique, in my own world, expensive watch. I was considering buying new Omega dive watch, even used Rolex (can’t afford new one), but being a big fan of German engineering and made in Germany products, I came across UTS brand and I was sold. The craftsmanship, the look, feel and attention to details is plainly superb, as is expected.
UTS is certainly unique brand and by not being a mass producer as most of other high end brands, this to me is even more special.
Thank you Herr Spinner and thank you Stephen.
I live near the ocean in Hawaii and own a number of dive watches: Rolex submariner 50th anniversary, AP Royal Oak Diver, Breitling Superocean (which is going on 5 months for a service!), and I am really impressed with the 1000M V2. I got #/200 of the blue dial and crystal back (which is rare for a 100bar depth watch and makes it unique amongst other dive watches of that depth). It wears very well (I’m using the SS bracelet), and I really like the proportions. I am sure I will get another before long. I really like the limited quantities and can’t wait to see what Mr. Spinner comes up with next.
As the other reviewers have already said the quality of the construction, finish and design is absolutely top notch! In addition to being more distinctive in design compared to more pedestrian dive watches whose brands I won’t mention, it is just plain cool to wear a watch that practically no one else has! The bang for the buck is unbelieveable! And the watch is just plain badass! Handmade, german, unique, what more could you ask for?
I have worn my Rolex submariner for over 10 years and recently desired something new. I stumbled on the UTS Divers watches and I am glad that I did. The UTS 1000M professional divers watch is just fantastic. It is just as accurate as my Rolex, actually more so. But the look is phenomenal, I could not be more please. And the service from Stephen at UTS was second to none.
Dr. AJ Weissenberger
I’m astounded by the quality of this watch. I love the deep black dial, the luminous hands, the bezel. The case is just something else really unlike any watch I have ever owned before. The brushed finish is fantastic! I recommend the UTS Diver 1000M it is a Fantastic dive watch!
If your a collector you make some mistakes along the way and come to know when you are really holding a fine time piece. I’m struck really by how something so simply conceived in design clearly radiates such exceptional styling and really defines a seperate, unique execution of a dive watch which tend to look, after awhile, very similar.
First. The case lugs are a hot styling difference and my just shy of 7 in wrist fits very comfortably.
Second. The blue dial color, with its stepped design and sunray dial center contrasts with the different finish border beautifully.
Third. The lume is very bright. And the indexes at the hour markers dome up a bit because they have so much lume.
Fourth. I really like the way the seconds hand and minute hand go to the end of the indexes, a cool contrast to the hour hand which stays in the sunray dial area for contrast.
Fifth. The bracelet locking mechanism is the best I’ve ever owned, with a unique sliding mechanism for a wet suit.
Sixth, but should be first… Stephen is completely professional, concerned about the quality of the product and not forceful nor assertive for the purchase. Rather he guides you through an understanding of the product , which is of course limited to 200 and fewer for the blue dial.
Anyone, in any time period would value this piece so it will be enjoyed for many years to come.
Thanks Stephen…more UTS to come
Fantastic quality and service from UTS. I’m very pleased with my new UTS Divers watch 1000M. The watch arrived with the bracelet perfectly sized and the time set on the second! I’m already saving for my next UTS!
I bought this watch a year ago since I was looking for a rugged diver. I looked at many models including Sinn, GP, Muhle-Glassutte, etc. I found UTS via a watch forum that I frequent. I took a gamble and ordered the watch without trying it on first.
Well, I gotta say, I love this watch. It is very elegant in design but also very comfortable. Of all the watches in my collection it gets the most wrist time. I wear the watch almost exclusively on the rubber strap (and I even found a Panerai style deployant for it), since the SS bracelet, in my opinion, detracts too much from the great lug design. That said, the SS bracelet is very very nice.
In terms of customer service, price, design, comfort, and dependability, I can’t say enough good things about this watch and UTS in general.
If you’re considering a new dive watch, take a look at UTS.
I have wanted a UTS watch for quite some time. After seeing the 1000m watch in a review in Watchtime magazine a few years back. For me this was a grail watch purchase. It has exceeded my expectations, and then some. The brush finish on the steel and the curves of the case you simply cannot see in photos. It is a gorgeous and masculine work of art. Add to this the personal level of service the owner of the company provides and it is an unbeatable product.
I’m very pleased with my UTS Divers watch. I ordered mine with an optional sapphire display back. Amazing watch! To have a sapphire display back on a 1000M rated watch is just unheard of. I was worried about the size but this watch fits my wrist perfect and is fantastic to look at. I highly recommend the UTS Divers watch.
I already reviewed my other UTS, the 3000M – long story short, flawless fit and finish and a customer support that’s hard to beat. My 1000M V2 story follows the same path – kind and quick answers from Stephen, watch coming into a Pelikan hard case with the steel bracelet already sized and time and date set. The watch is once again flawless executed – kind of the 3000M little and maybe classier brother: it’s still a brutal chunk of steel and sapphire (and yet rests so well on your wrist) but not so overbuilt; the “two-tone” dial is a thing of beauty and it is really bright in the dark – easily lasts several hours. How to choose between the two? Tough call! But whatever you’ll choose, the difference will only be in the look: quality and customer support will be at the typical UTS top.
Love this watch! I put on a watch when I buy it, it come’s off when I break it! This watch fits me just right, no nonsense gismo’s or doo daad’s. Time and date all you need! From Iraq to Africa, from sand to snow this watch is great! I beat the hell out of it everyday and it ask for more! Exited a chopper today and slamed the watch by accident against door frame. I thought it was broke for sure, but just another scratch! Thank’s Stephen!
I owned the UTS 1000M V1, got one when it first came out in fact a few years ago. It was my favorite watch and I wore it everyday for 3 years. A perfect watch could it get better?. Then the V2 came out this year and it is everything I loved about the V1 and then MORE. It has a larger dial (and what a dial it i!) The deep black color and recessed sub-dial is very “art-deco” a stunning look. The new bezel is perfect, and I could not be happier. The UTS 1000M is a perfect watch it is not too big like a lot of 1000M diver watches on the market seem to be. I love the size it fit’s my 6.5″ wrist like a glove. Service from Stephen Newman at UTS Watches could not be better either!
A couple of weeks before Christmas , my wife, Ludmilla, suggested I pick out watch that I would really enjoy. At first I protested because there are many more important things in life than expensive
material possessions (although I wish I could say with truth that I do not fall prey to such temptations); and anyway, the watches to which I was attracted seemed to start at $6000; another weakness on my
part.
Nonetheless, having recently acquired and then given away a Rolex Sea Dweller, the one Rolex model to which I really ‘took’, I did look into the matter. And true to its reputation, that Rolex helped pay for my
wife’s medically necessary spine surgery. Many less expensive watches, bar a few, seemed relatively ‘lightweight’, still too costly and, basically, unremarkable. Then I stumbled upon UTS watches on the
internet. After researching the matter very carefully, I bought a black-faced U1000m divers watch I simply love it.
Ever since we went to Bavaria to have Dr. Rudolf Bertagnoli implant four beautifully made artificial discs in her lower back, curing her of a USA-defined ‘incurable’ and debilitating lower back pain, we have
held a soft spot and tremendous respect for Bavaria and those there who looked after us so well. It just so happens that UTS watches are made in the same part of Germany, something that heightened my
interest in them. This may sound sentimental, but so what? That coincidence was only the beginning. My research confirmed the quality and value of UTS watches. Must one be a professional diver to appreciate this particular watch? I think not (but it helps if one can at least tell the time).
The service, delivery and personal attention paid me by Mr. Stephen Newman, the USA-based partner of the German watchmaker, Mr Spinner, was perfect. His sales approach was low key, professional, and attentive. He followed through on every promise beyond the call of duty. He even assured me that this hand crafted timepiece of Swiss and German origin can easily be fixed by other fine watch repairers
should help ever be needed beyond that covered by the warranty.
This hand made watch–not available in stores–has ‘heft’ and simplicity of design making, simultaneously, a commanding yet somewhat understated impression. It maintains a far higher level of
accuracy than did my near-twice-the-price Rolex (gaining only about 3 seconds a day); and it is truly unique being only one of 200 made. It is also surprisingly comfortable to wear considering its size and
mass, the watch case being well balanced by the strong and elegant, almost tool-like, stainless steel bracelet. The workmanship and attention to detail is outstanding. Conceptually, it reminds me of
the meticulous care and skill rendered by the orthopaedic surgeon who gave Ludmilla’s life back to her and to whom we shall ever be grateful. Obviously, this watch means far more to me than the sum of its
parts. Yet even as a ‘mere’ watch I would recommend it over any other. If you must first save to buy one, then do so. After all, it is only a matter of time………

am a Panerai fan and was looking for a dive watch. After lots of research on the internet, I came across UTS Watches and was immediately drawn to it. The uniqueness of the watch and the
already highly praised brand got me a difficult task to choose one. I decided on the 1000M Diver with limited edition black dial. When I talked to Stephen, he was very pleasant and accommodating. After much discussion he got me my 1000M Diver. The watch arrived very quickly and I was immediately happy. The weight of the watch is substantial yet comfortable. The bracelet was already adjusted perfectly to my wrist size as Stephen asked me during my ordering. I have this watch on my wrist daily since I got it a few months ago. A totally satisfying experience with Stephen and absolutely amazing watch. I already had comments for it. Thanks Stephen.

I have owned the 4000M for six months. The watch is absolutely fantastic. It is a large watch but wears quite well on my wrist. I own several nice watches and this is by far one of the very best. The quality and craftsmanship is fantastic! It is worth far more that it cost. I highly recommend this watch!
The 4000m is my THIRD UTS (so far). I must confess that i was a bit worried about the size, given my smallish, bony wrists… The surprise is that it is very wearable, and looks extremely classy on the new UTS rubber band. Wearing a 4000m diving watch with a suit and tie at serious business meetings is pretty DARING, but i do it. I have dumped muy Submariner as boring and i would prefer a UTS 4000m over any DeepSea. I think this summarises it. Well done Mr Spinner and thanks again for the excellent service to us european customers. I have just purchased muy FOURTH UTS, building on my satisfaction with the 4000m.
Superb watch, quality beyond reproach, and it feels as good as it looks on my wrist. Herr Spinner makes serious watches — this is not a toy! My only problem is that my other watches are being neglected…
The UTS 4000M is one sexy beast! I love this watch I cannot take it off my wrist. For such a large and foreboding specification (45MM) it is elegant and masculine. I wear mine on a beautiful vintage brown leather strap and get many compliments!
The 4000m is a must have not only for divers, but any watch connoisseur! I have the Rolex Deepsea and that looks delicate next to the 4000m. The 4000m is a beautiful watch that makes a statement. Best of all, chances are no one else you know will have a UTS on their wrist. Rolex, Panerai, Breitling and IWC are all great brands but do yourself a favor and get the UTS 4000m as well.
Ps. I think it looks best with the steel band.
JLiterally feel the watch on my wrist every time I wear it. Solid, manly and absolutely worth it’s price tag 🙂
The 4000m is my first UTS watch and it is simply incredible. The quality is second to none and the service from Stephen was just top notch. The watch has a look and feel that beats my Breitlings and Panerai’s and the clasp is the best I’ve ever seen. Thank you UTS for making a special watch.
The UTS 4000m is an incredible watch. The locking bi-directional rotating bezel, the micro adjustments are incorporated into the band, the weight is evenly distributed and the watch is perfectly balanced on your wrist so it is extremely comfortable to wear. The fit and finish is perfect, the dial is clean and easy to read. The watch is highly accurate and customer service is excellent. I highly recommend the UTS 4000m
I have been a customer for many years and have a number UTS watches. Without a doubt the 4000 is the best yet of the fantastic UTS designs. The 4000 is a 3000 on steroids, but still very comfortable and just great looking. I couldn’t be more pleased.
The pictures show how the 4000M looks like and its bold size – they don’t show however the flawless build quality and how well it sits on your wrist thanks to the wide lugs; one man alone made this watch and he knows no slack – no plays in the bezel, nothing to criticize in any part of the watch. My UTS is also accurate! And on top of that, customer support is as good as it gets.

The Adventure GMT was my first UTS watch, and it is a wonderful value. The distinctive look and comfortable rubber strap led me to next go for the 3000M. All in all, I highly recommend the whole UTS experience. Good products and good people.
I received my Adventure GMT with the stainless bracelet less than 24 hours after ordering it. I must admit I was nervous about ordering a watch I had only seen online. Stephen spent a good amount of time with me on the phone and answered all of my questions. When I opened the box and saw the watch, I knew I made the right choice. It is a big watch, very heavy and very solid and was better than I expected. I am very happy with my entire experience with UTS and would not hesitate to recommend them. The Chronograph will be my next watch.
I was worried at first the watch size was going to be too big. As soon as I put it on I knew it was perfect. I don’t have a large wrist just about 7″ and this watch fits perfect. The dial with the red GMT scale is very handsome. This is a high end watch that is worth every penny. I’m already looking to add the handwound Adventure to my collection I just love this watch!
This watch oozes quality I have never seen a case made this way. And for good reason not only did Herr. Spinner make the case he designed it. There are not too many watches on the market with the Valgrange movement especially the A07.171 as featured in this watch with all of the TOP grade finishing. The sapphire display back shows off this fantastic movement. The dial on the UTS is just stunning to look at. I love my UTS Adventure GMT it is my favorite watch and will never leave my collection.
I fell in love with this watch when Stephen sent me a few pictures of the first one to arrive in the US. So I immediately ordered
one. The design is crisp and clean. The dial is incredibly easy to read. The bracelet, as always with UTS, allows the watch to sit easily and comfortably on my wrist. And, of course, the lume is superb.
Once again UTS has taken a great watch and made it just a little better. The GMT feature is a nice touch to the Adventure model. Big, tough, well built, I could go on and on. Well done UTS!
4000M GMT
Well over a decade ago German Mechanical Engineer Nicolaus Spinner set the bar in the world of Deep Divers watches. 3,000M below the surface to be exact, at the time an unusual depth rating that few mechanical watches could come close to achieving.

From the moment I opened the Pelican case, I knew I had something special. This watch is truly one of a kind and like nothing else I have owned before. The fit and finish are first rate, but beyond this the design is just so unique. I love the fact that I am not likely to run into someone else wearing one. Also service from Stephen at UTS has been fantastic. He answered every email, and even called me on Sunday to answer a question I had. VERY Pleased!
I have never written a product review, but this watch deserves a review and I cannot do it justice. It is such an outstanding timepiece. You cannot see from photos alone or get a sense of it until you get it on your wrist. It’s unlike anything I have seen before. The finishing on the brushed surfaces is so perfect, the bezel turns like a fine mechanical instrument. The heaft and mass of the watch are big but not gaudy in anyway. You can tell this watch was built for a purpose and it is a very serious watch. A watch that is assertive and elegant, I’m stumbling for words because I am simply blown away by this watch. Service from Stephen at UTS was outstanding. I spoke to him many times and through many emails, he answered all my ridiculous questions in a professional manner. Highly recommended!
I have owned just about every UTS model over the years, including many versions of the 3000 diver. At first I did not think I wanted or needed the 4000, but, after receiving it I was convinced. This one is THE one to own. The slight differences (I like to think as improvements) from the 3000 are not huge but they are enough to make you look at it and smile. Of course, the quality and craftsmanship are there. And another 1000m of water resistance!!!!!
The 4000M GMT is a fantastic watch. It’s attractive, strong, has great heft and perfectly balances the art and science of fine watchmaking. This is my second UTS watch, the first being the Adventure GMT. UTS is a great company with a great product.
The UTS 4000M GMT German made Divers Watch.
Well over a decade ago German Mechanical Engineer Nicolaus Spinner set the bar in the world of Deep Divers watches. 3,000M below the surface to be exact, at the time an unusual depth rating that few mechanical watches could come close to achieving.

My wife gave the UTS 1000 GMT watch to me for X-mas over a year ago, I have a few mechanical watches, and this by far is my favoriite watch. The 1000 GMT is a superb example of very high quality German engineering, sporting a sharp looking, minimalist design with a robust capability to function. It is also unique as a diver’s watch with a GMT function but with a diver’s bezel, which is what I was looking for in a watch, but I had issues finding across the watch spectrum. The crystal back is very sturdy and a big plus as a no-cost option as well. If I had to make 1 tweak, I would use blue tritium tubes for illumination (I like 24 hr illum), but the current illumination does last for several hours after a little bit of light exposure. All in all, a great watch, and due to the small, hand crafted numbers of watches made, a very unique, quality piece that will stand out in any watch crowd.
I have owned several divers watches (Submariner, seamaster, Seiko marinemaster, etc.)over the years, but this is truly the first I would consider a true divers watch. It is a very well made with a lot of attention to detail. This is my first UTS watch, so I started with the 1000m gmt. I can honestly say I am seriously considering the 4000m gmt for my next watch.I would like to thank Steven for such an easy ordering process. Herr Spinner you truly are a great craftsman in the art of watch making.
After many months of intense detailed reading, I made the decision to purchase the 1000m GMT with blue dial and saphire back.
I can’t believe how truly amazing this meticulously crafted timepiece truly is. It’s difficult to convey the ownership experiene without actually owning one. Do yourself a favour and take the plunge of ownership. This is one incredible experience. I definately made the correct decision. WOW……
I have owned this watch for over year now and in that time have only grown increasingly happy with my purchase. I own a Tag and was considering a Rolex before UTS and am thrilled that I did. The Tag has not been worn since the day the UTS arrived as its quality is clearly much better when compared side by side. I actually believe the piece to be every bit as good (if not better) then similar Rolex as well. The best part is what this company represents though. An independent business, committed to making the highest quality product. On one occasion I had a waiter stop me and admire the watch as he recognized the brand but had never seen one in person. I love that most people have no idea what I am wearing nor its value!
I have recently purchased this watch. As context to this review I also own a Brietling Navitimer 01 limited edition, Gevril limited edition Avenue of the Americas, Longines solid gold Presence and a Deep Blue RECON T100 diver’s watch.
I will state that this watch is an example of exceptional RAW German engineering and elegance. The quality of this watch is evident in how it carries on your wrist. It is a perfect balance of size, weight and comfort and elegance.
The watch speaks for itself in subtle and eloquent terms – An excellent timepiece and very unique. I value this watch above others that I own.
I would also like to add the excellent customer service and experience afforded by UTS. The watch delivered had its bracelet sized to my wrist so I was able to immediately wear it. The package was delivered via (expedited) Fedex within 2 days. Impressive quality of service.
I would recommend this Watch, the organization and its people who are clearly passionate about making fine custom watch pieces.
powerful, reliable, beautiful.three words that say it all abaut this timekeeper
I have now had this watch for about eight months. Never been hand wound-I wear it. I find the micro adjustment on the bracelet of great use here in humid Hawaii. The watch is running at LESS THAN -1 second per day! Just fantistic. Those COSC driven brands better step aside, there’s a new sheriff in town. Thanks to both of you.
I cannot recommend this watch highly enough.
It is a joy to own. It is both a stunning looking watch, far more so in the flesh than in the photos and functionally excellent. In a phrase, elegance through simplicity. My compliments and thanks to both of you, it is masterpiece. I hope to buy another UTS in the future.
I have been following UTS for some time now and finally purchased the 1000M GMT. The watch arrived in less than 24hrs and was perfectly sized with the time and GMT set to my specific time zones (California and Hawaii)thanks to Stephen Newman. Stephan is a wounderful person to work with and sets the standard for customer service across the board. The watch, with a blue dial, is stunning and is running within COSC and DIN standards as delivered. Workmanship is flawless. I cannot recommend UTS highly enough. If you are thinking of buying a UTS watch do not hesitate. Many thanks to both of you.
I have been lusting after this watch since I recieved the email announcing its release. I personally think it is the best looking watch that UTS has produced and that is saying a lot. This is my second UTS and I am glad to say that the quality of the watches has remained constant. The finish of the watch is top notch. I could not think of anything they could do to improve it. It is like handling a new Jorg Schauer, you know that someone toiled over your watch unti it was perfect and flawless. It fits my wrist like it was made for me and is gaining two seconds a day. To top everything off, communication and service were superlative. Thank you Stephen and UTS.
After researching and sitting on the fence about getting a Tag or an Omega Speedmaster Professional I decided that they were too common and impersonal. One I researched UTS I knew they were the antithesis of the big name brands and a perfect fit for me since I don’t spend thousands every year on a watch. Within 24 hours of ordering the GMT it was on my wrist and I couldn’t be happier. It’s the perfect balance of size and weight that rarely is done right, and every detail drips with quality. The pics do not do the display back view justice either. Start to finish a great experience and I’m so much happier to hand my money over to a 2 man outfit that is working hard rather than a jewelry store giant!
Been wearing my UTS GMT for a week now, and it’s been a great experience. Very impressed with the design, attention to detail and quality. Recently while shopping for a new watch I experienced sticker shock. It seems to me that the major brands are raising their prices to the point that the value is no longer there; and as a result, the experience of purchasing a new watch from a major brand is uncomfortable. While the UTS GMT is not an inexpensive watch the price/value relationship is very apparent. I also enjoyed the experience of buying from a smaller watch manufacturer. I felt that it suited my contrarian personality. I also wanted to thank Stephen for his great service.
I have just received my GMT – number XXX/200.
It’s difficult to over-state the immense sense of pride and satisfaction you get from actually holding this masterpiece in your hand. The watch is literally “made for you” and you feel that in every detail. The feel is INCREDIBLE – anyone who’s been lucky enough , say, to sit in a high-end Ferrari knows this feeling – but it goes deeper than that because of it’s powerful subtlety : this is a watch that makes you think ” Why in the world would anyone invest in the mass market, over priced, clone-like, personality-free hype of the “Happy Meal” blandness and over-saturation of Rolex. Omega, Breitling? I happen to own all these watches and all I want to do now is sell them to any sucker that will have them so I can use the cash to buy another UTS! The US owner Stephen Newman PERSONALLY CALLED ME within 20 minutes of receiving the watch to ensure I was happy with my watch! I mean, seriously, where do you get that level of customer care? He makes you feel like you have joined a family and will ALWAYS be looked after. Incredible, truly incredible. If you are at all thinking about buying a UTS, if you are at all sitting on the fence and considering something else : jump off the fence and immerse yourself in this ownership experience while you still can, because, like the man says “When they’re gone, they’re gone”
Having received my new UTS GMT watch with 24hour bezel last month I have been impressed beyond belief. The fit and finish of the UTS is perfect and I have been able to track three different timezones! I love the sapphire display back on this watch showing the decorated movement. Not to mention the 1000m depth rating should I dive so deep!
UTS is to be congratulated both for extraordinary craftsmanship and exemplary customer service, a rare combination these days! My 1000M GMT arrived safely to be opened by a breathless me and – wow – from the first heft to multiple closer inspections since that time, I am increasingly in awe of the watch’s multiple features, attention to smallest details and so on. The light-brown leather band even is amazing. My favorite complication is GMT — that this watch can handle three time zones is ‘over the top’ in the very best way and ultimately very useful. Already my UTS watch is proving a ‘favorite,’ beating out my Rolex/Panerai/Jaeger/Breitling/Sinn/Oris crowd, ja! Pure excellence. UTS is assured of a repeat customer in me!
As a federal agent I need reliable gear plain and simple. The design of the UTS GMT Dive watch really spoke to me. The story of how the case is made in Germany by one dedicated engineer was very appealing. When the watch arrived I was very impressed. A lot of times photos on the internet of things do not look the same in person. Not with the UTS this watch looks even BETTER in person. What you cannot see on line is how it “feels” and the feel of this watch is that of a fine instrument. Or weapon, a very fine crafted one. I wear this watch daily both in the “field” and off the field. It has never let me down it keeps perfect time and the GMT function is very useful for traveling. I travel constantly through different timezones and the quick setting GMT feature is very easy to use. Service from the owner Stephen has been flawless like the watch.

After hearing about UTS on a watch forum I became interested and began to do my research. After reading about the company history and then seeing photos of the 1000M GMT Diver I knew this was my next watch. My expectations were high and this watch exceeded my expectations. This watch is unique, bold and has a presence when your wearing it. I get alot of compliments on it.
If you’re looking for German precision at its finest and want to have a serious piece of hardware on your wrist get a UTS.
Herr Spinner is a true craftsman. Coming from a German background as well, I appreciate the precision and attention to detail that he puts into his work.
Fantastic customer experience as well. A pleasure to deal with Stephen.
Thank you UTS. I will no doubt be buying another UTS watch in the future.
Rugged construction. Great dial. Comfortable to wear.
Can handle anything you throw at it. And it has GMT
function. What more could you ask for in a sport watch?
As a watch enthusiast, I’ve owned many of the major names in casual and dive watches; today my UTS 1000m v2 GMT stands-alone as my casual/dive watch of choice. The quality of assembly, proven reliability of the movement (adjusted in 5 positions by Herr Spinner) and highly-machined, purposeful, Teutonic design gestalt of the watch marks it as one of the greats, for divers and enthusiasts alike. Highly recommended!
Film maker and Director John Moore (Max Payne, The Omen, among others) says
“I first saw UTS Watches in Watchtime magazine and was blown away by the strong , confidant simplicity of the watch. It seems to have a sense of brooding lethality, like it “knows” how strong, how good it is so it doesn’t shout about it! I’m a huge fan of UTS Watches”
UTS Watch Review
For some time I’ve felt my collection was perhaps too dressy, lacking diversity. How could it not be? I buy very nice, but conservative pieces over and over. So two watches had to go (New Rule: To get something…..something has to go!). And as much as I liked my Frederique Constant FC-710 and Montblanc Star GMT Chrono, they just weren’t getting much wrist time. With the Grand Seiko, their prospects for wrist time grew even dimmer. I decided it was time for a real “Tool Watch.” Something “Badass,” but not so “Badass” I couldn’t wear it to work, or out to dinner. Plus my collection didn’t have a true diver. Not that I dive. I don’t. Heck, my watches don’t even get wet. But I’ve found myself looking at diver’s and thinking I needed (well OK, wanted) one in my collection. I was absolutely convinced my itch for a diver would be scratched by an Omega PO 8500. When you add what I paid for the Grand Seiko and this new piece, I could have bought one. But what’s the fun in that when I could scratch two itches with two completely unique but really great watches? I first learned about UTS from a WatchTime Magazine article and I’ve been utterly fascinated since. I did a lot research and while this brand doesn’t have the legacy of a long established Swiss or German house, it’s pretty cool how the line came to be. So sit back, maybe pour a glass of wine and suffer through another long introduction post of my new UTS 1000M V2 Pacific Horizon Diver. I hope you find my research about the company, their watches and my review all with pictures interesting! So Who Are Nicolaus and Stepehn
Herr Spinner in His Workshop Hand Making UTS Watches In 1998, Engineer Nicolaus Spinner who owns a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) manufacturing firm in Munchen (Munich to most of us) Germany,a watch enthusiast in his own right, built a watch he called the Commander. Herr Spinner (as he is commonly referred to) looked high and low for a watch with qualities he simply found lacking in other brands. So what does a guy who owns an engineering firm do? Well he decides he can make exactly the watch he wants. So off to his workshop he went, he ordered some Swiss components, CNC machined his own watch case and the Commander was born. Here is a picture of the Commander.
The Commander wasn’t a diver per se. But he made it in a case that would put most divers to shame with a manual winding movement, a screw down crown and water resistance to 3000 meters. Herr Spinner didn’t actually set out to create a new watch brand. Nope, he just wanted a watch for himself, built like a tank, truly waterproof and something he’d want to wear. Being a bit excited about his new creation, Herr Spinner did what any parent might do. He posted pictures of his new purpose built baby on his personal website, where it caught the eye of an American Engineer and watch lover himself, Stephen Newman. Stephen – CEO of UTS North America (and a really great guy!) Stephen, a tech entrepreneur who started software companies and launched internet start ups was a watch guy himself. Rumor has it he took apart mechanical clocks his parents bought and put them back together as a kid. On Herr Spinner’s website, he was fascinated not necessarily by the Commander, but by a manual wind chronograph Spinner had just created. So he contacted Spinner and offered to buy the watch. That’s as they say how history was made. Soon a partnership was formed with the goal of turning the watch into a business. Today, Stephen is the President and CEO of UTS North America. He’s the face of UTS in the US. Since there’s actually no store in the US you can try one on or buy one from, if you want a UTS of your own you’ll have to call or email. I recommend calling. This way you’ll have the pleasure of speaking with Stephen, who is one heck of a great guy to buy a watch from! Since its inception, UTS has developed a dedicated following around the globe. “UTS” stands for “Uhren Technic Spinner” which roughly translates to Practical/Useful Watches, made by Spinner. In fact, every single UTS watch is completely hand made by Herr Spinner. There’s no team of watchmakers in his shop. No sir, there’s Nicolaus Spinner hand making each and every watch he sells. UTS makes about 200 watches a year with each model limited to 200 pieces. It doesn’t get much more limited edition than that! Each watch is assembled in his factory outside Munich where Spinner, who in partnership with his brothers also produce machinery for other industrial clients. Here’s where every single UTS watch is built by Herr Spinner.
Another cool Dive model is the 600M, a Chronograph powered by an ETA 7750, for which Spinner invented a new locking system for the chronograph pushers. Instead of screwing them down to lock, they unscrew upward.
While all UTS watches have incredible waterproof ratings, not all UTS watches are technically divers. There’s the Adventure GMT, without a rotating bezel, but it’s still rated at 500M. It’s also big at 45mm. It has to be big to handle the Automatic Valgranges movement A07.171 with GMT complication. There’s also the manual wind Adventure with a Unitas 6497 movement. And just in case you were sitting there thinking UTS just isn’t WIS enough for you, there’s Spinner’s crème dela crème! The 1000M Tourbillon Dive watch with a manual winding STT 13.75 movement developed by Atelier (now owned by Bovet). It also has an impressive power reserve of 110 hours. And you can see the decorated movement through a Sapphire case back. Pretty amazing for a dive watch! It has a nice but my no means inappropriate price tag of $45,000!
Unmistakably Bauhaus, Right? How does one describe the style of a UTS watch? Bauhaus seems most appropriate. But what does that really mean? So being a curious fellow, I learned Bauhaus is a style developed from a school of applied arts, established by Walter Gropius in Germany from 1919 to 1933. The ….’s disbanded the school in 1933. Evidently Modern Design wasn’t very popular with them? Some might say Bauhaus is similar to Art Decco in concept. But Bauhaus is more purposely simple in design while highly functional in use. Some might feel UTS watches are not highly adorned. Tome, UTS makes rock solid, built like a tank, functional, really cool watches, without unnecessary adornment. What Does UTS, “Badass” and Hollywood Have in Common? Its cool owning a watch featured in a big budget movie, right? Look at the Rolex and Omega connection to James Bond movies. Well guess what? “UTS” is no stranger to Hollywood either! In the most recent Bruce Willis movie, “A Good Day to Die Hard”(released in 2013), one of the most “Badass” characters in the movie (“Mako”) wore the very same 1000M watch I just bought! Here’s a picture of “Badass Mako” wearing it.
The director of the film, John Moore also wore a UTS 4000M GMT while filming the movie. Here’s a picture of him with his UTS on.
While you can order a UTS 1000M on a rubber band, if you spend just a few dollars more, you’ll get the solid, VERY well made and hefty SS link bracelet as well. I’m pretty sure I’ll be sporting my UTS pretty exclusively on the metal as it just completes the“tool” look. Each link is brushed just like the watch (no fancy polished pieces – no sir) and it’s thick at 5mm. Now that I’ve worn the bracelet for a day, I think it’s amazing, really well made and comfortable.
What’s Under The Hood? As mentioned earlier, Herr Spinner uses rock solid, mostly ETA movements in his watches. And not just base movements, no way. He orders only “Top Grade” movements and my 1000M V2 is fitted with (yes I know there are some who might balk at spending $$$ for one) the venerable, tried and true, very serviceable, “Top Grade”ETA 2824-2, adjusted personally by Spinner to 5 positions. The rotor proudly says “UTS Munchen” spinning on top of a nicely decorated movement. Of course I haven’t had the watch long enough to assess its accuracy. But Top Grades are supposed to be +/-4 seconds/day with a maximum daily deviation of +/-15 seconds/day, so I have to believe it will be very good. I ordered my 1000M with a Sapphire case back. To ensure it can’t leak, it’s not only very thick at 4mm, its sealing system is major league. While I could have ordered my watch with a solid case back, for me, a BIG part of the joy of having a mechanical watch is being able to admire all those itty bitty parts working in unison bringing me the time of day. There aren’t many dive watches offering this and certainly far fewer with 1000M depth ratings.

This is my second UTS watch. It is truly beautiful
From the dimensions it ought to be a large, obtrusive piece of steel strapped to your wrist, thanks to the design it neither feels or looks obtrusive, but rather what it’s meant to be ie a superb example of horological craftmanship. Functionally it’s great, it’s tough as heck and look marvellous .
I have worn this watch non stop for a year. As an pilot I find the Chronograph function very useful. And the watch just looks great the fit and finish is second to none. It keeps accurate time both in the air and on land. It’s my favorite watch I recommend this to anyone who wants a special Chronograph.
I could not be happier with this watch! The attention to detail is outstanding. The dial is beautiful with a two tone black and grey color, the luminova is very bright in the dark. I love how the Chronograph pushers have a reverse locking system very unique and looks great locked or unlocked. This watch has a lot of technical details going for it and looks great. For a watch made by hand and just one of 200 I’m quite pleased with my purchase. I highly recommend the UTS Chronograph.
3000M and PVD Diver Chronograph
Between the two of these exceptional watches, I’m
pretty much set for life, never mind the fact that my
collection includes examples from Rolex, IWC,
Omega, Kobold, Ikepod, and Panerai (to say
nothing of my vintage pieces). Were I to sell them
all off tomorrow, it wouldn’t matter so long as I still
had these two beauties in my possession; to say
that UTS stands heads and shoulders above the
rest is an understatement. The attention to detail is
astounding, and the craftsmanship almost defies
belief, particularly in light of the fact that a single
person is responsible for the construction of both
watches.
Where to begin? The 3000M (white lume dial, in
this case), is an elegant beast that is perfectly
balanced on my wrist in spite of its considerable
heft. The bezel — floating on ceramic ball bearings
— turns with delectable precision, and the lume
stops just short of being radioactive. And while I’ll
never come close to approaching it’s rated depth
limits (unless I was tossed overboard in the
Marianas Trench with lead weights attached to my
ankles), the fact that it’s engineered to such a
degree to survive at 3000 meters is an incredible
feat in anyone’s book.
As for the Diver Chrono, I’m almost at a loss for
words. The PVD finish is flawless and durable, the
contrasting anthracite subdials with their concentric
guilloche are stunning, the counters reset precisely
to zero, and as with my 3000M, the lume is nuclear
(the lumed subdials are a nice touch as well). And
then we have the reverse-action locking pushers
that screw down in the opposite direction of pretty
much every other chronograph on the market. It’s
such a terrific idea that one is forced to wonder why
no one thought of it sooner. Well, Herr Spinner
thought of it, and that’s all that matters.
Mr. Newman was a true gentleman throughout
every aspect of our correspondence, from my first
tentative email to the hour-long phone call that
preceded my order. He is personable, knowledgeable, open, honest, and genuinely in
love with his work and the products that he sells —
and believe me, it shows. My watch showed up
fitted perfectly for my wrist, with the time and date
set, as well as a personal note wishing me well with
the impending birth of my second child. In all my
life, I don’t believe that I’ve ever received such
treatment from the owner of a company whose
products I was purchasing.
All in all, dealing with UTS was a delight from
beginning to end, and I look forward to adding
more of their fantastic pieces to my collection in the
future.
Regards,
Adam

I love my UTS watch. I have had a UTS Commander for nearly 8 years and it is still ticking away. When the UTS Adventure came out I had to have one of those two, it’s different enough from the Commander and I love it equally. Going on 5 years now with my UTS Adventure handwinding watch. It is a flawless execution of German craftsmanship. Bravo UTS!
I have owned Panerai, Anonimo as well as several Glashuute watches. I primarily like manual winding watches for their esoteric simplicity. Finding the UTS Adventure Manual wound watch was a real treat. From start of the process in contacting Mr. Newman at UTS to the delivery of my watch could not have been a more pleasant experience. The UTS Adventure is a fantastic watch the case is really something it rivals Panerai, really I would say it is much nicer. The Unitas movement has performed flawless for me for over 4 years since I have owned it. While the watch is a large diameter it does not wear large on my 7″ wrist it’s very comfortable and not to heavy. I have no complaints or areas where I would improve it is a perfect design. And no wonder that this was Herr. Spinners first watch!
The UTS Adventure is a masterpiece of engineering! By far my favorite German mechanical watch that I own. A perfect balance of form and function!
